Christmas 1!

Christmas has always been an amazingly awesome and happy time in my family! No matter what has happened throughout the year, and no matter what else changes as the years go by - Christmas is a time when everything is decorated, there is amazing food, music, singing, and everyone is happy and together!

For my family, Christmas is a month-long celebration. We usually put up our Christmas decorations on the weekend before December 1st, or around then. We have accumulated lots of special decorations over the years, from 1980 - when my parents were married, to the present day.

I was putting decorations on the bottom because I needed to sit on the floor.
Lily liked the decorations near the bottom of the tree...
She chewed the branches, too!

As well as decorating the main rooms of the house, we also decorate all of the other rooms. (We even have Christmas soap dispensers in the bathrooms!) Below are some pictures of the decorations in my bedroom!

My mum, sister and I also make festive craft in the lead up to Christmas. This year, we made decorations, hats, skirts, shoes, beaded bracelets and anklets!

Experimenting with Hair Chalk!

During a moment of madness, hyperactivity and rare energy, I decided to experiment with a box of hair chalk I got on sale from the chemist. To cut a long, incredibly arm-tiring story short, it did not work out quite as I had hoped. While some of the colours looked okay in thin streaks through my brown hair, most of the colours sort of bled chalk dust to make my hair look much greyer than it actually is! The worst colour was the white - it went like... well... it wasn't pleasant.

Hair chalk!
Kinda pink-purple-grey!
See the white at the back?? NASTY!
I ended up having a late night shower and rewashing my hair! Oh - did I mention that this happened on Christmas eve? LOL! Luckily, I was in a good patch illness-wise, and was able to wash my hair unassisted - so the whole incident has remained sort of secret... up until now!

Carols By Candlelight!

Back in December, my family went to our local Carols by Candlelight - it was awesome! Going to the carols has become a tradition for us, and we dress in festive clothing, pack snacks and a picnic blanket, and have an awesome night with the rest of our town singing, laughing and relaxing under the summer moon and stars! It is almost magical-feeling. Everyone is so hopeful and happy, and having fun together =). Here are some pictures of our night!

bit of slushie out!

More Christmas Art & Craft!

I hope everyone had a very very merry Christmas, and enjoyed their new year's celebrations - I know I did! I'm a little behind with blogging, but here is an update on some more of the Christmas art and craft that I made during December 2014 (in addition to the things that I posted earlier)!

Christmas Cards!

My hands were not being overly co-operative on the day that I made my Christmas cards, so I used various kinds of cardboard and paper stock, textas, stickers, glue, festive sticky tapes, and other easy-to-stick-on things I found in my craft box to make them. I'm happy with the way they turned out!

Unfortunately (as is the case most years), I wasn't able to leave the house much during December, and my cards were posted late :( (sorry!) I am glad I got some made and posted this year, though!

Cross-stitched Decorations!

If you follow me on Twitter, you have probably seen a lot of in-progress and finished pictures of the mini-cross-stitches I was doing over December! I managed to get four completed in total this year - and I am very proud of that! (Sadly, I forgot to grab a photo of the fourth one - which was for my mother - before it was packed away - but it was a Christmas fairy =D).

I kept this one for myself. I kind of fell in love with the cuteness of it!
An elf, a box and a cat - for my sister!

Festive Fashion!

It has become a bit of a tradition in our family to wear a Christmassy hat (or even a whole outfit) to Carols by Candlelight, Christmas day lunch, and any other Christmas gatherings we might attend. This year, my mum made me an elf skirt, and I decorated some shoes and made a bracelet and a wreath/laurel hat to go with it!

My shoes (complete with beaded ankle bracelets)! I decorated these on Christmas eve while my lovely mum was sewing a skirt for me =)
My bead and jingle bell bracelet!
My laurel hat! I made this before Carols by Candlelight!
I also decorated my wheelchair with lights and tinsel again this year! I love the way that people smile and comment about my decorated wheelchair wherever I go - everyone seems to like it! It's an awesome feeling to have made other people happy!

My decorated wheelchair! The lights are star-shaped and battery-operated =)
